Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) is a branch of the Bangladesh Armed Forces for protecting the sky of Bangladesh as well as giving the support to Bangladesh Army and Navy. Career in BAF promises one of the most prominent and appreciated post for serving to the nation and become leaders of the sky.

Apart from the recruitment or circular by the BAF Information and Selection Centre (I&SC) located at Old Airport Building, Tejgaon, Dhaka the commissioned officers of Air Force exam and application systems are follows:

Qualifications required to apply as officer in BAF: 

  • Academic Qualification :

For The Branch of General Duties (Pilot/Navigator) / Air Traffic Controller / Air Defence Weapons Controller / Meteorology / Logistic / : HSC (Science) minimum GPA-4.0 with Mathematics as compulsory or additional subject (minimum letter grade ‘D’) / ‘A’ level with Physics and Mathematics (minimum letter grade ‘D’ in both subjects) / equivalent.

For The Branch of Engineering: Minimum GPA 4.0 in both SSC & HSC from Science without grade point of 4th subject / ‘A’ level with minimum letter grade C both in Physics and Mathematics. or equivalent.

For The Branch of Administrative: Min GPA 3.5 in HSC / ‘A’ level with min letter grade D or equivalent from any faculty.

For The Branch of Accounts: HSC (Sc) with (Math/Statistics) or HSC (Commerce) min GPA-3.5. ‘A’ level with Math & Accounting (min letter grade D) / equivalent.

For The Branch of Education: Min Honours from Economics faculty and Master’s Degree. ‘A’ level with min letter grade D or equivalent.

For The Branch of Legal: Min LLB/LLB (Honours) LLM or Higher Degree on Law (At least 2nd Class) from a recognized university in required discipline. Lawyer practicing on any civil court of Bangladesh is preferable.

  • Nationality: Bangladeshi male/female.
  • Marital Status: Unmarried (Married for education and Legal).
  • AGE: 16.5 years – 21 years (Up to 30 for Legal and  Up to 35 for Education )
  • Height:
    • For General Duties (Pilot/Navigator): Minimum 162.56 cm (64″) for male/female.
    • For Others: Minimum 162.56 cm (64″) for male and minimum 157 cm (62″) for female.
  • Eye Sight: 6/6, normal vision.
  • Weight: As per age & height
  • For Female Candidates: No sign of pregnancy.

 Disqualifications:

  • Withdrawn/discharged from Army/ Navy/ Air force or any government service.
  • Two times screened out/ two times rejected from ISSB. (Candidates screened out once / rejected once can apply).
  • Convicted by any court of law.
  • Rejected by CMB or Appeal Medical board.

Documents required during the submission of an Application Form:

  • Photocopy copies of all academic certificates, testimonials and marks sheets (Attested).
  • Nationality certificate showing marital status and permanent address from Class-I Gazetted Officer / Union Parishad / Municipal Chairman / Ward Commissioner.
  • Three copies of recent passport size photographs (Attested by a Class-I Gazetted Officer).
  • Birth Certificate / National ID card (Aattested by a Class-I Gazetted Officer).
  • Character Certificate from head of the last educational institute.
  • No Objection Certificate for the serving candidates.
  • The certificates of sports achievement at District / Divisional level should be brought along with (if any).
  • Attested copy of Freedom Fighters certificate by Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (For the son / daughter of Freedom Fighters).
  • 9inch x 4inch return envelop with permanent Address.

Details Of Admission System of Tests:

Candidates were Preliminary face a Written Test of IQ & English where passed candidates were called for Preliminary Medical Check-Up. After successful completion of first medical test candidates were called for a pre-Viva Voce headed by the recruitment Authority of BAF. Only for the candidates of Pilot branch they will go through for Pilot Aptitude Test. On Successful completion of these steps they are called for a test which will held on ISSB (Under Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh). Finally, successful will go for final Medical Test by Central Medical Board and face a Cadets’ Final Selection Board.

Final Selection: Final selection will be made by Air Force Headquarters by following the existing regulations and vacancy.

Initial Training: Successful Candidates for regular commission officer will undergo a three years pre-commissioning training at Bangladesh Air Force Academy (BAFA) at Jessore. For Special or Short Courses or Short Service Commission and Special Purposes Short Service Commission, candidates will undergo six months of training at BAFA.
